With reference to my letter No.4577/58 (A) dated
10th February, 1916, forwarding a petition for the release
of Max Lorenzen, a german prisoner of war recently in-
terned here and now interned in Australia, I have the honour
to forward the attached demi-official letter from Lieut-
Colonel A.V.Alexander, 74th Punjabis, lately Commandant
of Prisoners of war at Hong Kong, who accompanied the
prisoners to Australia, addressed to the D•A•A.&Q.M.G.,
China Commanì,
I almo forward a letter received from Lorenzen's
late employers at shanghai.
